In agreement with FHS guidelines, cell phones must be off and out of sight during all band contests and performances, including football games. Cell phones may be used appropriately before and after events, including travel time on the buses. However, if inappropriate cell phone usage is suspected -- i.e., a student making prank calls -- the directors/chaperones may take the phone from the student for the duration of the trip.
